This interesting Palace is a little outside the centre of London but was a royal Palace in the time of Henry VIII to George II and so has a great history. With its interior fully restored there are guided tours (given by guides in costumes!). You can take the train from Waterloo Station to Hampton Court Station via Clapham Junction and this offers an opportunity to see a little of suburban London (takes just over half an hour).
If you are visiting around Christmas Time get information on Ice Skating at Hampton Court - what a venue for ice skating! An unusual way to see this Palace is to take a Ghost Tour. This tour is only available on certain days of the week so check first to find out. It costs about £25 per person and there are light refreshments included. You have to be 12 years or older to go on this tour.
